Customer challenge
The Municipality of Hilversum was committed to taking a major step towards objective selection and ensuring equal opportunities for all applicants. Their challenge was to implement a process that would:
- Provide clear insight and validation of the competencies of applicants, specifically targeting their existing KCC (Customer Contact Center) talent pool.
- Equip recruiters, HR, and hiring managers with objective, data-driven tools to make the matching process as efficient and unbiased as possible.
- Ultimately, create a more sustainable match between the organization and its future employees, thereby saving time and costs in the selection process.
Situation
The municipality was ready to move beyond traditional, subjective selection methods and adopted a mindset of Competency-Driven Recruitment and Selection. The project was initiated as a focused, small-scale pilot to quickly experience the value of Recrout’s matching technology. The initial focus was on quickly setting up a job profile to integrate into the platform
Our approach
Recrout delivered a white-label matching platform (Softmatch) to serve as the technological engine for their objective selection goals. The solution was designed to be low-threshold and easily integrated into their existing recruitment process, focusing on the core principle of matching based on competencies and potential. The process for the pilot was simplified into three steps:
- Job Profiling: The recruiter creates the job profile and the culture profile for the municipality.
- Competency Assessment: The candidate completes the competency assessment at a convenient time.
- Magic Match: The Recrout system performs the objective, data-driven matching.

Our ML based algorithm uses a combination of keywords, assessment data, experience, and other relevant factors to match candidates and applicants with your job profiles.
Can I match several jobs at the same time
Yes, Softmatch allows you to match as many job profiles as you like at the same time
Is there a fee to use your service?
Yes, just like when you go to the Supermarket there comes a point where you have to pass the checkout with all your nice goodies. But we can promise you that our pricing is very competitive 😉
Are you open for pilots for trial?
Yes, we can work together with you on a pilot base. The minimum commitment we ask regarding setting up a pilot with you is 3 months.
How reliable is your assessment?
Our assessments are highly reliable and validated. We collaborate with the international assessment developer Talogy, a global expert in assessments and talent analytics.
Is your tool suitable for international scaling?
Yes, our assessment supports 40 different languages, making it easy to match and deploy candidates and teams worldwide. By default, Softmatch is available in Dutch and English. If desired, we can also add additional languages to the platform.
Can I integrate Softmatch with my existing HR system?
Yes, Softmatch can be easily integrated with most HR and ATS systems, allowing automatic synchronization of candidate and job data.
How quickly can I expect results from a match?
Once candidates complete their assessment, Softmatch immediately generates an overview of the best matches. Typically, actionable results are available within a few minutes.
